Rob Zombie’s Bigfoot Movie

Rob Zombie Bigfoot

News from Fangoria today

After conquering the comic-book field with an unending stream of horrific graphic novels (ALEISTER ARCANE, REMAINS, CRIMINAL MACABRE), writer Steve Niles is now poised to make a major splash on the big screen. Niles tells Fango that this spring, he will be producing an offbeat serial-killer thriller called THE TRIPPER, as well as co-writing (with Rob Zombie) a movie adaptation of his BIGFOOT comic for Rogue Pictures.

Rogue Pictures has optioned Niles and Zombie’s BIGFOOT, which IDW (Niles’ main outfit) published last fall. The serious comic yarn features a rampaging, bloodthirsty Sasquatch and spectacular artwork by Richard (HEAVY METAL) Corben. Niles has yearned to do a frightening Bigfoot movie ever since old TV commercials for THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK gave him nightmares as a child. The screenwriters will use the graphic novel as a skeleton to build the feature film version and expand upon its themes. “The whole reason Rob and I created the BIGFOOT comic, and now the film, is to undo the damage done by movies like HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS that made Bigfoot a silly character,” Niles says. “I’ve always found the idea of Bigfoot to be scary. I hope the film reflects that.”

  1. squatchworks responds:

SWEET, I can only hope this will turn out better than Rob’s 2 other films House of a 1000 Corpses and the Devil’s Rejects.

  2. G. Noel Gross responds:

There’s been a crush of Sasquatch pictures lately (see link). Love his movies, but I read Rob’s Bigfoot comics and wasn’t dazzled. Pretty much just a man-eating monster who more than fancies the ladies. Zombie’s bigfoot isn’t our bigfoot.

  3. darkrabbit responds:

Probably make “Sasquatch” look like an Academy-award winner.

  4. Ron Nasty responds:

I remember that movie. I remember being afraid to go to the bathroom, even though it was on the second floor and there was no way Bigfoot would be living in a big city and be able to reach into a bathroom on the second floor and grad some little kid.

Maybe Steve Alten could write a more suspenseful book, but then bigfoot would probably have to live part of its life underwater… hmmm… maybe THAT’s why it’s hard to find one! ;)

  5. Doc responds:

Rock n Roll. This should be good. Wonder what ever happened to the movie Abominable?

  6. texasgirl responds:

Hahahaha, anyone seen the movie “Sasquatch Hunters” ?? haha that was one of the most hilarious movies I’ve ever seen. We rented it a while back from the movie store.
