Unlike a lot of Bigfoot movies then & now, Boggy Creek didn’t go for SyFy “thrills” or get mawkishly New Age sentimental over the creature either. In some ways it was Monster Quest before Monster Quest was around. I would like to see something like that, a movie that acknowledged the existence of the creature, showed its habits via accounts and discoveries, and then made the case without gore or Green mawkishness.

Actually, there was nothing wrong with the older film that a little extra money for costuming, f/x couldn’t have fixed. The cinematography was superb, and the creature’s appearances were kept short & sweet. Maybe a good CG creature or a tall actor in a “bigfoot suit” would appeal to the audience these days. (The deliberately blurred appearance shots of the dude in the gorilla suit & the reactions of the people in the original film DID give the appearances more punch than they would have normally though.)

I liked that small town amateur feel of the original. You get the impression of reality with it. Frankly I think too many special effects have ruined the art of film making.

Especially after being deluged with all the SciFi channel “killer bigfeets” drek. If Vail’s heart is truly in the right place and he’s true to his word, his remake could be the breath of fresh air that our dear old Squatch has been waiting for.
