On October 2, 1998
Tim Ford, a 22-year-old Redding man, told state Department of Fish and Game officials that he and some of his friends had an uneasy and frightful night after spotting Bigfoot. Ford was on a camping-hunting trip near Mud Springs south of Hayfork in Trinity County when one of his friends heard a loud rustling in the bushes. After getting his flashlight, Ford said he spotted the enormous creature standing about 50 yards away on the other side of a creek.
