Pterodactyl Caught on Video!

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on April 20th, 2007

I was just tipped off to this video.

Is it real, or is it hoaxed? Watch the video here on Cryptomundo and judge for yourself!

I have included the text that accompanied the video on youtube, however, this will NOT be about discussion of that ideology. Correction: Instead of ideology, I should have gone ahead and said creationism versus evolutionism.

The Missus was videotaping the George Washington Bridge to show the grandchildren when I told her to move the camera up to shoot a booger I saw up there. Well, you wouldn’t believe what it was. If this videotape doesn’t prove that the Biblical version of Creation is True, I don’t know what does.

We’re on vacation here in Satan’s Capital, other than that we’re not interested in providing personal information. I think you can understand why, we’re both respectable members of our community back in Dallas.jesusdinosaurs

Loren has already ventured there on Cryptomundo. If you would like to add to that discussion, please do so there. Any comments here concerning that subject will be moderated.

  1. squatchwatcher responds:

It’s very interesting. But I would guess this is either someone who doctored it up on there personal computer or a sci-fi movie coming out soon.

  2. clman1 responds:

    Give me a break

  3. Raptorial responds:

It looks close to something you’d see on a show with paleolife in the modern day, like the Lost World or Primeval (which, being American, I haven’t seen yet).

  4. kamoeba responds:

    *sigh*

  5. bambookid responds:

    Ahhhh…. let me guess…. FAKE!

  6. mystery_man responds:

    Giva me a break.

  7. Tobar responds:

Wow that was incredibly poorly done. I myself am a creationist and I…..wow. =(

  8. Kimble responds:

Hey, was that Spiderman on the bridge in the background? Get ‘em Spidey!

  9. IMAdamnALIEN responds:

I hope Loren isn’t turning into Jamie Maussan. This screams FAKE out loud! Please Loren, provide us with media that isn’t produced with a video editing program. “If this videotape doesn’t prove that the Biblical version of Creation is True, I don’t know what does.” UHH, CRAZ! I’m at a loss for words.

  10. Sylense responds:

It blows my mind that you would even post junk like this on your site.

And people say Biscardi is bad!

  11. Dragonheart responds:

I’ve done a lot of CG-work at home, and I can tell you, that one is computer generated. The first five seconds were almost believable, the rest was just funny. Just my 2 cents.

  12. wildmanmarty responds:

I don’t care what the rest of you think…..this is a very interesting and convincing piece of…….dinosaur dung. Craig is messing with us.

  13. Bob Michaels responds:

It looks like a Kite. It’s a perfect fit for You Tube.

  14. joppa responds:

I think one of the winged Nazgul escaped from the Lord of the Rings. Somebody warn Frodo.

  15. Rillo777 responds:

As one of those who believes in “that ideology” as Craig put it, I’d have to say: with stuff like this no wonder you all think we creationists are crazy! And to the guy who came up with this: what are you doing in “Satan’s Capitol” anyway? GO HOME, and don’t do us any more favors.

  16. graybear responds:

This is such an important video that something really profound needs to come from it. So here it is: Kimble, Spider-man is correctly spelled with a hyphen.

  17. dwwish responds:

    respectable?

  18. captiannemo responds:

It’s fun to watch if you take it for what it is….entertainment.

  19. KenMD responds:

For what it is worth why can’t creationism and evolution both exist????????
How about first you create life and then you sit back and let it evolve.
Don’t be so narrow-minded, afterall you are on this website.

  20. shumway10973 responds:

The explanation above screams fake, and even one that might have been done to give those who believe such things a bad name. Having a living dino of any kind only disproves the asteroid theory that all of them died off at the same time. It doesn’t really do much else. And unfortunately, there are those out there who would believe this to be true. I am surprised, the thing actually loaded on my computer–I needed that laugh. Um, hasn’t anyone thought that something like that would cause a major accident on the bridge?

  21. BadState responds:

Reminds me of that old World Trade Center UFO video that turned out to be a promo for the Sci-Fi Channel. I have to disagree with Dragonheart. The first 5 seconds looks like a shoddy shadow puppet. The ending looks better, but it was just too much. If it had been real, if it had been YOU, would you have stopped filming at that point? Not likely. Pure shock value. Pure production. Pure fake.

  22. chrisandclauida2 responds:

Can you say waste of bandwidth? I will never get the 30 seconds it took to read this back.

  23. Loren Coleman responds:

Based on new comments appearing on an old creationism debate blog of mine, people seem to be confused. I have not been “forced” to reopen that blog. I am not reacting to this blog of Craig’s. The comments sections reactivate when people send in comments. This pterodactyl blog is not mine. It is posted by Craig, and he is responsible for it. I do not approve my fellow bloggers’ blogs, and they don’t approve mine.

  24. fuzzy responds:

    Good Grief!

  25. DWA responds:

    Yep. Classic pterosaur sighting.

I’ve read lots of sighting reports. LOTS. You couldn’t even touch it, brother. And the same things are cited, over and over:

    1. Lame wingbeats, like: how is that thing staying UP there?

    2. Rising up, up, up, out of the camera lens, making the shooter get so TIRED just trying to track the bugger. (Idiot’s arm was like LEAD. Get the camera OOP, laddie! Maybe it was a three-year-old holding the camera, or maybe not. I mean, a three-year-old would know to follow the moving thing, honey. Unless he was ….uh oh….really ….TIRED….A-HA….)

    3. Buzzing the shooter with a fake-pterosaur scream - probably an intimidation display.

    4. Gulls? Where are they? Do you see any gulls? EXACTLY.

    5. None of the other, oh, million or so people present sees it at all.

    Yep, classic pterosaur.

You want to hear about the classic tyrannosaur sighting…plus video unseen anywhere else…send a stamped, self-addressed envelope and a check for $3500 to:

P.S. You see muscle movement under the suit, don’t you? EXACTLY.

  26. swnoel responds:

    Roger Patterson would be proud…

  27. dogu4 responds:

Is this an ostensibly humorous attempt to increase visitation to some sight or an attempt to garner celebrity via YouTube? Pretty lame attempt, I’d say, though I’m sure it will generate unbridled hilarity amid those so inclined to chase flatus in a bathtub.

  28. Loren Coleman responds:

    IMAdamnALIEN sends in this comment:

“I hope Loren isn’t turning into Jamie Maussan. This screams FAKE out loud! Please Loren, provide us with media that isn’t produced with a video editing program…..”

PLEASE folks, read whom the author of this blog is. It is not me (Loren). This one is Craig’s blog. It was Craig’s choice to post this, and I have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I would appreciate the exercising of care in noting who is posting what before rants are thrown my way for things I didn’t do.

    Thank you,
    Loren

  29. chozenn1 responds:

For a sec, I thought it was footage of Rodan from “Godzilla: Final Wars”.

  30. mrdark responds:

Look, I like a good hoax as much as anyone, but I see a real threat here of Cryptomundo losing any kind of credibility in the field if you guys don’t filter -some- of these out. A blobsquatch is one thing, but if you’re going to start posting stuff like this, incredibly obvious, over the top fakery, I think you’re walking into dangerous territory. Have some respect for your readers and for the field of cyrptozoology: if you insist on posting crap like this, at least describe it honestly as a source of humor instead of ‘Is it real or is it hoaxed?’ NO science ever advanced based on pointless sensationalism.

  31. Ceroill responds:

That’s a funny one! Thanks for giving us a laugh, Craig!

  32. nanniegoat responds:

You scared the begeesus out of me. Thanks for the aerobic workout.

  33. RockerEm responds:

    Sooooo faaaaaake

  34. Loren Coleman responds:

Why am I being dragged into this and people assuming I have made any specific comments on this footage when I have not?

On the YouTube location of this footage, I stumbled across this message, posted by jesusdinosaurs:

“Thanks to Craig Woolheater for writing an article about us on the Cryptomundo web site, but shame on some of the terrible commenters there (including the REAL Loren Coleman) who wrote unforgivable things that made my wife cry. SHAME! Coleman, you are a cold man.”

    What? This is insane.

The only comments I’ve made here are that this is Craig’s blog, not mine, and I was clarifying that one point.

I am not in the habit of making wives cry, especially by things I don’t do!!

  35. maceman444 responds:

FAKE!! However all these attacks on Loren (who didn’t even write the blog) and Craig are terrible. The reason this website is the best Cryptozoology website out there is because it shows the fakes and lets you decide whether its real or not. They bring forth real evidence, possible evidence, and the hoax’s, to help people like me (who are not experts) see through the fakes. This is obviously a fake, any 8 year-old child can figure that out, but its still fun to watch and shows just how bad a fake can be. The point of this rant is that this website gives you the freedom to make your own decision on what is real and what is a fake. I usually find the other blogger’s blogs informative and helpful, but today I am dissapointed.

  36. Jeffro responds:

That video has me rolling on the floor laughing.

  37. kamoeba responds:

“The Missus” certainly did film a “booger”.

Maceman444 is absolutely right. Sure, this flying reptile video was a fake piece of garbage. It’s all too obvious. But who’s to say that the P/G bigfoot film isn’t fake as well? It sure gets analyzed quite often here. If it’s a hoax, it’s a very well done one. This hoax…well, not so well done.

And KenMD…what if neither the asteroid K/T extinction theory nor the Creationists’ extinction theory is correct? Somehow crocodilians, turtles, sharks, frogs and numerous other animals made it past the dinosaur extinction. This planet has had several mass extinctions in it’s history, and the dinosaur extinction isn’t even the biggest/worst of them. Not every mass extinction is causes by some cataclysm.

And folks, let’s remember that pterosaurs and plesiosaurs weren’t dinosaurs, but merely distantly-related contemporaries of dinosaurs. Aparently they were categorized under “boogers”.

  38. IMAdamnALIEN responds:

    Loren,
My apologies. I was under the impression that you edited your site, and maybe filtered obviously fake claims. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy your site. Most of the time I find myself fascinated with the content. I was deeply disappointed however with this post, and thought you may have caught something like this before people start bashing you (even if its not your post it is your website am I wrong?). If some of you don’t know Mr. Maussan, he is a UFO researcher that has been accused of supporting proven cases of false claims. Again, I apologize and meant no disrespect.

  39. Loren Coleman responds:

    Yes IMA. You are wrong.

  40. IMAdamnALIEN responds:

So am I wrong about this being your website? I thought since every post was from you that it was your website, sorry! My mistake! I’M NOT BASHING YOU LOREN!

  41. IMAdamnALIEN responds:

I know now that lorencoleman.com is your site, you are 1 of 4 people who run this site. I am truly sorry for thinking that this was your post. I am still baffled by Craig posting this however.

  42. UKCryptid responds:

That’s about as convincing as a ten foot chicken.

  43. mystery_man responds:

I don’t really want to say too much more on this one, but just a word to anyone who may want to go out and try to hoax a video. This would have been much more believable if they just kept the beginning. That part might have stirred some curiosity. But having it swoop in with that scream was pushing it and ruined all credibility. As for people bashing Craig for putting this up, I think that it is important to have this sort of thing posted from time to time just so that would be hoaxers can see the treatment they are going to get and to let them know that we are not a bunch of fools. Fake videos are something that is rampant in this field so I don’t think the best way to deal with those is to just ignore them and pretend they are not out there. I see Cryptomundo as a forum to discuss all aspects of cryptozoology and I hate to say it, but that includes fake videos. I personally don’t really see too much wrong with this being posted especially since the message to those who made it is that we are not a bunch of starry eyed true believers.

  44. crypto_randz responds:

That sure isn’t real, I hope the rest of the people aren’t believing that video footage is real.

  45. DWA responds:

I’d agree with mystery_man. I shouldn’t have put in the scream part.

    :-D
I think the following, about this site and crypto sites in general:

    1. Most days, face it, are slow news days.

    2. It has to be fun, or who would bother?

    3. It’s a great place for people to get educated about fakery. Real animals look like real animals.

    4. The more things like this get shown, the better the P/G film looks.

I can’t help but think that if the scientific critical mass ever comes to bear on animals like the sasquatch it will be because enough people saw the contrast between what was being represented as real on phony videos - and what people were actually reporting seeing.

  46. DWA responds:

And I have to say a couple more things about the video:

    1. Looked like Rodan from the gitgo. Real flying animals don’t fly like that.

    2. As to why the guy didn’t move the damn camera? Now it’s obvious to me. Bright lights, big city. You know: they say the neon lights are bright/on Broadway….

  47. crypto_randz responds:

    Some people believe though!

  48. crypto_randz responds:

The video clearly doesn’t show a real ropen just to remind everyone that ropen exists.

  49. springheeledjack responds:

This is the problem with YouTube…any monkey with some software can throw together some crappy video and then it’s up to us to make fun of it…

I can’t comment on the creation/evolution thing for fear of making the missus cry some more…

  50. sschaper responds:

Total hoax. Not a well-done one. And I think that creation models have merit…
I would venture that the vid was done by an evolutionist, in fact.

  51. Sensei responds:

    Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

  52. peterbernard responds:

The comments here are almost as funny as the comments on the YouTube page for this movie. People with no talent calling this guy a “monkey,” haha. I do cgi and only a few hundred people worldwide have the skills to do that pterodactyl movie. It obviously wasn’t meant to be real, it was meant to make fun of all of you– the Christians as well as the “evolutionist” cryptozoo people. You have no sense of humor, and because of that, you will end up the butt of jokes forever. And you’ll never get the jokes, and you’ll think the joke is on others because you figured out that their joke was a “hoax.” This was not a “hoax.” It was a “prank.” Get real.

  53. peterbernard responds:

BTW how do I know it was a prank? If you check the guy’s channel page on YouTube, he’s got an Andy Kaufman video there. Have you guys heard of Andy Kaufman? Well, trust me, everyone that pranks this web site knows Andy Kaufman as well as they know Higley if not better.

  54. mystery_man responds:

peterbenard- I know Andy Kaufman, I’m a big fan. But I don’t see your point. The whole thing with Andy Kaufman is that everyone thought that what he was doing was for real. He didn’t do things that were “obviously a prank” or obviously not real. That was the whole point and why it was so funny when it dawned on everyone that they’d been had. With this video, everybody is going on on what an obvious fake video is and there are actually a lot of funny comments on how lame it looks or how cheesy it is, so it seems to me that everyone here knows that this is a hoax. If this was an Andy Kaufman stunt, everyone would think it was real. So the if the guy who made this is trying to be like Andy Kaufman, well, he failed. Get real indeed.

  55. mystery_man responds:

Now if the PG footage is a prank, THAT would be worthy of Any Kaufman.

  56. Ceroill responds:

    Well said.

  57. borntofightdinosaurs responds:

Good god, people. This was posted in fun. come on now. Aren’t cryptozoologists allowed a sense of humor?

I wish it was real, though.

I would love to be standing outside when an Irishman got buzzed by a pterosaur.

  58. chupachups responds:

LOL I just read the humorless Mystery_Man professing to understand comedy. That is the funniest post of the new century. Dude, anyone that complains about comedy videos has no sense of humor. Give it up.

  59. Isaac responds:

    Ya so believeable…
