The fact that they added a spooky soundtrack takes all the credibility away for me.

And as mentioned by others, the neck seems much too stiff for a living animal.

IMHO, this is just another dumb YouTube hoax. Which is a shame.

As a Seneca Lake resident and frequenter there is nothing more that I would like to believe than the existence of a lake “monster” but I’m highly skeptical that there is anything in there. As deep as it is the lake is just too well explored and busy with human activity, not to mention that reported sightings are almost non-existent. What would said monster even be? Seneca Lake was created by glacial activity so no plesiosaurs and the lake is far too populated for it to be any kind of creature that needed to come up for air. What I’m getting at is that I don’t necessarily believe the video is a hoax but I don’t believe is shows any kind of unknown creature. I also don’t believe the video shows a carp, common carp do live in the lake but they don’t reach 6′ in length, more like 4′. Lake sturgeon however do exist within Seneca’s waters so if anything that is probably what we’re seeing.

As for deer and moose, I’m not seeing that at all and moose don’t live in the region.

I have spent a lot of time at Seneca Lake and searching for stories of a “Lake Monster” in Seneca Lake due to its (by some accounts) unmeasurable depths in certain spots. The only account I could find is of a cruise ship in the late 1800′s. In the beginning of the video it may be a real creature, Seneca Lake has a large population of very large carp, some up to 6 feet long, you can make out a dorsal fin and you can make out that it is a carp going to the surface and “rolling”. Towards the end of the video it appears to be a carp that is playing with a tire that had been disposed of in the lake, that is definitely not unheard of. However, there in my opinion is obvious tampering with the video when the “neck” of the creature comes out of the water, it is choppy, stiff, and overall horrible looking.

My first guess is hoax, as well. But to me it looks like someone is under the water pushing various things up out of the water. The tail-like thing toward the end of the film looks reminiscent of “SPLASH meets THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON” with some nice old grainy film photoshopping. Entertaining, but definitely fake IMO.
