Judging by the comments the only mythology that seems to be present here is that coming from the personality known as Night Walker… I was expecting details of the so-called “Hoaxed Yowie Photograph” only to learn it is a model based on the photograph under question…. surely one would check the facts in full before making such a proclamation! These images may indeed be hoaxed but we need irrefutable evidence before drawing such conclusions. This type of labelling based on assumption brings into question the integrity and authenticity (or lack there of) of such an individual. Can we please leave fraudulent claims off the website in the future.

I feel totally left out – this whole thing smacks of a fable about an abstraction about a myth. Even Yowie is embarrassed.

Thanks guys – I noted the Cryptomundo post was claiming a hoax had taken place involving the model, and taking someone else’s words at face value as ‘the truth’ and it couldn’t be further from it.

Hey guys, if you’d asked we could have set you straight – a local artist created the model based on the cover of the book, primarily to get a better feel for what the purported ‘yowie’ might look like. We were lucky enough to get hold of it and filmed the sequence referred to in the post. Just email and ask next time

What a strange post.

An artist based this model on the photo of the cover of the same book in the shot. Not the other way around.

It’s quite a good model too!

Perhaps if someone had bothered to check first before posting this?

Nightwalker- I lived in Australia for 9 years and searched for the Yowie, i personally had 2 experiences that were possibly Yowie related, once in Springbrook well off the trail in the middle of nowhere i found a branch and stick structure very similar to what Sasquatch and Chuchnaa appear to leave, along with huge footprints and the carcass of a bush turkey that had been plucked off its feathers not ripped apart. The other was a vocalization that made my hair stand upon end and the violent crashing of trees and was nothing like that i had heard before, i also spoke to a park ranger who privately confirmed he had seen them, so something is out there. Perhaps the Yowie is the same animal as Sasquatch ? Who knows ?

The original Green images/story were supposedly in 1998.
The toy was made for me about 2 weeks ago.
It was based 100% on the cover. !
And it is excellent..!!
I was having a bit of fun with it in the bush to show other people the quality.
Nothing more to it I am afraid..

Kjak75 – how did your neighbours “confirm” the Yowie’s existence?

Folklore isn’t just quaint stories from the past – it describes the beliefs and practices of living individuals, groups, and cultures. Not everything we experience is real or tangible. Personal anecdotes and stories have tremendous power because they relate directly to the subjective living experience moreso than the objective reality of it.

If the Yowie exists for you because you have seen it and your neighbours say it is so then that is also how it is for many others – people who believe Brett Green and others are actively “researching” the Yowie when what they are really doing is imagining the Yowie and creating the evidence.

The Yowie lives on because it is such a tremendous story but stories do not invent themselves. The “subculture of Yowie fakery in Australia” refers moreso to the storytellers masquerading as “researchers” but the practices and beliefs of local folklore also play an important role.

I’m interested in learning more.

I have never seen any hint of the slightest “subculture of Yowie fakery in Australia”. The city folk laugh it off and stay out of the bush. The country folk sometimes laugh along, but with sensible people they will often report a sighting themselves. Growing up i heard nothing of the yowie until after i had my encounter, my father asked around, seeking to make fun of me and was shocked by the response of the neighbors. They confirmed the creatures existence but had a mostly live and let live attitude.

As for the video, if it is trying to claim that the photo is a photo of his little statue, i suppose it could be, but it could also be pretty much anything else.
