I think the Chupacabra is a vampire bat, oversized, deformed, diseased, mutated, injured, or maybe a new flightless variety. If you think about its feeding habits, and it's range (areas known to have vampire bats) that would be the most logical answer.

That's an interesting supposition. I think that there are many natural, albeit poorly understood, explanations for UFO's, but remain a supporter of the ET hypothesis in some cases. Government collusion has yet to be proven to me, although it is a well known fact, based on recent FOIA releases, that government agencies in the US, Canada, and the UK have been far more interested in UFO's than they've publically maintained.

What of the theory that Chupacabras represent some sort of Mer-Being or Aquatic Ape?

I believe the chupacabra to be an alien. Since in some reports, the government comes in and tries to hide the evidence. When the government tries hiding something, it's usually extraterrestrial.

Just as an interesting thought, it turns out that "Stenonychosaurus" is NOT valid. I agree that feathered serpents are common in Central American lore, and these may have gone south from North America during an Ice Age.

Don't think I've seen that one then. While we're on the subject though, has anyone else noticed the resemblance between Dale Russel's Dinosauroid and the Sleestak from Land Of The Lost?

Mnynames-

Thanks. Still haven't been able to find the picture I'm looking for. It was a detailed, black and white drawing of one of the smaller bipedal dinosaurs depicting it with feathers in several places, like a crest, etc. I know its posted online somewhere, I just haven't been able to find it again. I think someone posted or linked it during a chupacabra conversation.

The usual candidates for evolving into bipedal lizard men are Stenonychosaurus (A la Paleontologist Dale Russel), Troodon (Saw this one mentioned as an ancestor for either the Lizard Men and/or Grey Aliens), or the ever-ubiquitous Raptors of various breeds.

A web site proposing that the Dinosaurs DID develop intelligence can be found here.

I just have to add, what sort of mindset must someone be in to not even consider that such an ad was a fake, especially with the picture? It boggles the mind, for those who have them...

Since someone brought up chupacabras I remember that there was a theory that it could be a surviving dinosaur or bird relative. I remember seeing a pretty good, detailed drawing of the most likely candidate and it did look pretty close to some of the eyewitness descriptions. I've been trying to locate that picture on-line but I haven't been able to, does anyone have a link to that picture, or even the name of the dinosaur species that is the subject of the theory? (As an aside I am pretty skeptical of the chupacabras phenomenon, but the theory is interesting, especially with the prominence of feathered serpents in Central and South American mythology and legend.)
