The original Boggy Creek was and still is the proverbial lightning-in-a-bottle success story. Effective mainly for it’s brilliant use of local aesthetic, it’s a classic example of “less is more” and it uses it’s shoestring budget to its advantage (seedy stories of Charles Pierce ripping off the locals notwithstanding). It’s one of those rare flicks that you can pop in 30 years down the line and still get the creeps, though the laughs certainly come in equal amounts through the filter of adulthood.

This post inspired me to watch the orginal movie, “The Legend Of Boggy Creek” today. I remember being a kid sitting in the back of my uncle’s car at a Drive-In Theater watching this for the first time. What I like about this low-budget creature feature is the fact it relies more on style and atmosphere than graphic horror to deliver its G-rated chills. This new flick will probably be pretty much ALL graphic horror! Notice that it’s being released about 6 weeks before Halloween.

“Thrilling” will remain to be seen. The call heard on the trailer sounds like an elephant from a safari movie. I’ll be interested to watch this and see if it can hold up to 1972′s Boggy Creek. That one flat scared the crap out of me! I was living up in the Texas/Arkansas border area back then and it was mighty eerie driving through some of those bottom lands at night.

Nice to hear the market in Crypto is ‘evergreen’. LOL.

As for the trailer, the still frame at 42 seconds, it reminds me of that photo that came out a few weeks ago that Cryptomundo was then asked to remove. The bowling ball headed Sasquatch, I ‘think’ it was from Canada but I don’t really remember.

Still the blue ray price is pretty cheap for this and I’m confident it will do fairly well among the bloody awful crowd and teenaged boys in general.
