Ok now you're in the grounds I was raised in, and hunted and camped many times. I have seen some strange things in the Texas woodlands, Black Panthers, water moccasins over 7 feet in length which we killed two of them and stretched them out to measure. Water moccasins in iced creaks in the winter fully active, tracks we could not explain (perfect hand prints about the size of a 6month old's hands). But nothing that would even begin to give me the thought of a bigfoot in Texas, and I've seen some things in the Sierra Nevada's that make me think I may have seen one, just not sure as there was too many branches in the way, and when I got closer to get a good view, it was gone, so may have been a bear or something else.

Jim, please don't think that I'm putting you down. It's the people that you where with that weekend that I do not trust. I myself have never seen a bigfoot, but I have talked to many people that have seen something. I have seen tracks in California and I have heard some very strange call here in West Texas where I live. I believe in Bigfoot. Too many people have seen it. I hope someday to be apart of that group. This animal needs to be protected and not exploited as I feel Tom would do.

Kudos to everyone who gave it their best. I was hoping for something "concrete" to come out of that trip.

Oh well. Hopefully next time.

As I said before, I admire your enthusiasm, just not your woodcraft. This is especially true when you are taking novices into the wild. I would hate to see a repeat of Mt. Hood: enthusiasm + moderate skill = bad judgement. Bad judgement + dangerous conditions = TROUBLE. Nevertheless, Bring em back alive, and yourself as well.

I'm with Mystery_man on this. Jim Snell comes across as a genuine and intelligent guy. Doesn't push ideas onto anyone and fields all criticism well. I say fair play to them. If you're willing to go out in conditions that bad then do so, just be damn careful! Good luck to all who do and happy hunting!

Well, I got to hand it to him, Jim Snell is taking the criticism aimed at them in stride. He is being very understanding and calm under circumstances where some might have become defensive and nasty. I still don't agree with braving those conditions for the sake of any expedition, but I do respect the way in which the comments aimed at him are being answered politely and in a mature fashion.

Like I've said many times here, those Enthusiast Groups are OUT THERE, in the weather, in the woods, in the dark, in the difficult conditions - and most of us are NOT!

Keep on keepin' on, Groups!

Sooner or later...
