The fact that the network (and its investors) own all rights and the footage itself has nothing to do with authenticity. As for sonofthedestroyer’s comments, I agree totally.

Let’s keep an open mind and not prejudge anything we have not seen or have no intimate knowledge of.

I’m hoping to see the footage soon, but I’m not one to criticize those who are rightfully scornful of Discovery Channel’s unwillingness to release this footage. IMO, $75K doesn’t sound like the true reason why we haven’t seen this footage, and I can see why people would say that this sounds fishy.

Again, I’m just hoping we can see the entire footage, unedited, unabridged, and in its entirely.

After reading John Kirk’s newest thread, I’m am STOKED to see this. And to know that the Northwestern from “Deadliest Catch” is actually in the original footage is just terrific! If only the network could work hard to get this out to the masses and we get the chance to make a judgement for ourselves (bad sentence structure there!). Oh well, I’m just excited all over again. Please everyone, get your letters in to Discovery and let them know how you feel. We can make this happen!

Can’t wait to see the footage. Until then, I will withhold opinion of authenticity until I see the evidence. Can’t assume on hearsay.

I’m sure the whole thing to this is the fact that Discovery channel is making sure that $$$$$ is main priority.

I am sure they (Discovery) are in no rush (apparently) to get this footage out.

I’m also sure they will use this awesome footage (awesome based on what Mr. Kirk has told us) to launch something like a whole new “monster” hunting series. (God knows we need another one, right?)

Since when in recent time has the Discovery channel actually really cared about Science and “Discovery”?

I don't trust anything to connected to the mainstream media. Can you remember how that Champlain monster video so quickly became NOTHING? Video of such immense magnitude and all I hear now is the crickets.

I can understand your frustration, korollocke. It’s really rare for us to see ANYTHING of value these days and to have the rug pulled out from under us time and time again can definitely make us extremely skeptical. I’m trying to be patient about it but it’s starting to wear a bit thin on me. Just need some kind of a hint of what is to be, so let it be. Keeping fingers crossed here.

I’m a believer, too, springheeledjack. I have a little trepidation in my head but I tend to believe this video might just be the real deal. My gut tells me the network heads are trying to come up with the best way to present this to the public so that all that see it will understand the magnitude of the discovery. Hate to be long winded about this but I’m really excited to see what it truly is. Even if it’s not really what some of us think it may be, we still need to see it. I’m tired of waiting, though. Enough already!

It’s true, I’m skeptical, I have to see it for myself, but just because it hasn’t aired doesn’t mean it’s got no merit.

Again, it sounds like the footage is tied up in corporate red tape, which I don’t even have words for (well, I do, but they’re all four letters).

As for the giant squid footage, I’m not sure I remember who first picked that up. It was several months before a network showed it. And again, the red tape. Also, the giant squid is something that people knew existed, even if only from washed up specimens.

I’m not making judgments until I see it and decide for myself.
